After years of dealing with recurring flood issues at its original site, SJK (C) Lee Min has officially taken a major step forward. The school's new campus in Bandar Bestari, Klang, celebrated its groundbreaking ceremony on 15 August 2026, signalling a new beginning for a school that has been part of the community since 1944.

The ceremony drew more than 500 attendees, including government representatives, education officials, community leaders, and supporters of the school's relocation project. The event began with the singing of the national, state, and school anthems, followed by speeches, a symbolic groundbreaking session, and a visit to the future construction site.

Among the notable guests present were Deputy Education Minister YB Wong Kah Woh, Selangor Executive Councillor YB Dato' Ng Suee Lim, Klang MP YB Tuan Ganabatirau, Port Klang assemblyman YB Tuan Azmizam, Pandamaran assemblyman YB Leong Tuck Chee, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Education and the Selangor State Education Department.

According to Wong, the new campus is planned with 26 classrooms and will eventually be able to accommodate up to 1,080 students. If construction progresses according to schedule and the necessary approvals are obtained, the school is expected to begin operations at its new campus in the second half of 2028.

The relocation project comes after the school's long-standing struggle with flooding at its original location. The move is seen as a significant milestone not only for the school community, but also for future generations of students who will benefit from a safer and more conducive learning environment.

However, while construction has officially begun, fundraising efforts are still ongoing. Dato' Sri Jason Lee Pei Nam, Chairman of the school's Building Committee, said more support is needed to help the project reach its financial goals. He also expressed hope that developers will carry out the necessary road infrastructure improvements around the area to ensure smoother traffic flow and better accessibility once the campus is completed.

For many involved, the groundbreaking ceremony represented more than the start of a construction project. It was a symbol of resilience, community support, and a shared commitment to providing better educational opportunities for future generations.

With the first shovel now in the ground, SJK (C) Lee Min's next chapter is officially underway.
